K KUTTA - Gettin’ WV Music Out Of WV

One of the cool things about doing the On Air! podcast show is that you get to meet alot of cool people. K KUTTA is the definition of cool. I had the pleasure of interviewing K KUTTA at the Create WV conference where he performed for those in attendance.

K KUTTA
calls Huntington, WV home and specializes in hip-hop/rap. DJ Testarosa presents West Virginia’s street hero K KUTTA starring in the “Bake Sale” co-hosted by Shawty Whats My Name along with special features from OJ DA Juiceman, Brisco, 2 Pistols, DJ Scream and Gorilla Zoe. I have to say it is very well done and must listen. Check out K KUTTA’s latest album called “Bake Sale”.

K KUTTA
spends alot of time in pursuit of his mission of “Getting WV music out of WV”. He is not only trying to make a name for himself but helping others along the way by identifying other musical talent in WV and giving them an opportunity to get noticed. There are several ways he is going about pursuing his mission.

First, he and his business partner Justin Simmons started WV Soul Magazine two years ago. Their new magazine has made a big splash and is flying off store shelves. Be sure to check it out at www.wvsoulmagazine.com. Another idea he is putting together is an Urban Music Summit called “The Grind”. It will be an opportunity to gather those who are interested in getting noticed and having a way to promote their music.

It was a great interview and I am very excited about what K KUTTA is doing to “Get WV music out of WV”. Be sure to follow K KUTTA on Twitter @kkutta and on Facebook at facebook.com/kkutta. Keep your eyes open for K KUTTA playing in West Virginia and other venues outside the state. You can always catch him at the Last Chance Bar and Grill in Huntington, WV. Be sure to check him out and get out there and support local home grown music from West Virginia.

Senator Brooks McCabe on Entrepreneurship and Create WV

I had the opportunity to sit down and talk with West Virginia State Senator Brooks McCabe representing Kanawha County about the importance of entrepreneurship in West Virginia. We talked about how the Create WV conference is creating more awareness for communities across the state of how focusing on entrepreneurship as an economic development strategy can help us recover from our current economic recession.

Solving Complex Problems With Simple Pictures

Business, community and political leaders were treated to keynoter and international best selling author Dan Roam of "The Back of the Napkin" at the 2010 Create WV conference held in Wheeling, WV at Oglebay Resort presented by BrickStreet Insurance. For me it was one of the most personally engaging keynotes I have attended in recent years. Dan did a tremendous job keeping it simple by telling great stories and interacting with the audience. It was so encouraging and motivating that I was ready to head back to work and begin solving our own problems that we encounter each day by incorporating his simple process of drawing pictures to solve them.

After his talk I had the pleasure of interviewing Dan one on one and got to know him a little better. Dan was my first celebrity interview and I have to say I was a little nervous. He quickly made me feel at ease and we began talking about the highlights of his keynote. We got to talk about his first impressions of West Virginia since this was his first visit to the mountain state. Also, he gave me a teaser about his new upcoming book that sounds very exciting. Be sure to listen and get the full scoop along with highlights of his keynote at the 2010 Create WV conference.
